HR and Talent Acquisition Specialist
The Claims Conference is hiring an HR/Talent Acquisition Specialist. In this role you will provide support in a wide array of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training & development, compliance & reporting, benefits, organizing & coordinating projects and other day-to-day responsibilities. As part of the HR team, you will have the opportunity to build effective business relationships across organizational levels by delivering end-to-end service.
This role will expose you to every aspect of human resources and give you an opportunity to develop your skills and learn from a team of experienced human resources professionals. The ideal candidate is a dedicated team player and organized self-starter who can manage multiple, detailed projects in a fast-paced environment. Headquartered in New York with additional offices in Israel and Germany, the Claims Conference is a global, non-profit organization committed to providing a small measure of justice to Holocaust Survivors. Since our founding in 1951, the Claims Conference has secured more than $90 billion from the German government in indemnification for Survivors. For 2023, the Claims Conference will distribute approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and allocate approximately $750 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. This is a hybrid position with two days a week in the office.
Responsibilities:
• Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including full cycle recruiting: resume and phone screenings, interview scheduling, ATS management, reference and background checks, new hire processing;
• Assisting with the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring paperwork is completed properly;
• Support HR programming, including training/development, employee engagement, and other initiatives;
• Work with outside vendors and internal stakeholders for company events; i.e. ordering supplies, working with legal/accounting on contracts, researching venues/vendors;
• Perform monthly credit card reconciliation;
• Assist with HRIS processes and related reporting, i.e. updating home page, posting policies, sending acknowledgement reminders, running reports, etc.;
• Update and maintain job description library and global organizational charts;
• Maintain accuracy of employee records on HRIS and generating reports via HRIS systems;
• Act as support for employee questions regarding HR policies and benefits;
• File HR documents and maintaining employee files to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;
• Support the HR team on department initiatives and other projects as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field;
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional HR and full cycle recruiting experience; at least 1 year of experience utilizing an HRIS, preferably ADP; experience with SharePoint and ServiceNow a plus;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio;
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Pay close attention to details, strong time management skills and highly accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of your work product;
• Proactive approach to your work, eager to pitch in on projects, big or small, that contribute to departmental goals;
• Work well independently and always looking to raise the bar;
• Exercise good judgement, act with integrity, discretion and professionalism at all times.
The Claims Conference offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target salary range for this role in the New York City market is $60,000 - $70,000. This salary range represents Claims Conference’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
